Munir Chowdhury was born on 27 November 1925 in Manikgonj district.But his native residence is Noakhali.His father Abdul Halim Chowdhury was a district Magistrate.He was the second in fourteen siblings.

Munir Chowdhury  was meritorious as well as the breadth of his knowledge.In 1943 he was admit on Dhaka University at English.Since then, he has devoted himself to literary and student politics.In 1943, he joined Pragati Lekhak and Artist Association.In 1946 he passed honours and next year M.A.
He obtaind second class on two subject .During student time he debuted Communist activists.In 1948,he attended the conference of communist party in Kolkata.1949,He got married Lily Mirza.And 1950,He was attend Jagannath college (at present Jagannath University)as a English Proffessor.

In a sort time ,He got the temporary appointment at English department in Dhaka University.1952 he joined Language movement in his body and be arrested.Get released from prison in1954.Soon after he again were trapped in jail.He bear examination in Bangla M.A first part from jail.He got again the temporary appointment at English department in Dhaka University in 1954.On Appril 1956 he got parmently appoinment at Bangla deparment in Dhaka University.Sixteen December 1971 we lost him a few hours ago gain independence of our country.He is known as a mrtyr of Ekattar and intellectual.
