The Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is also known as " The Taj".It is a white marble tomb located in Agra in India.The Mughal emperior,Shah Jahan loved his wife Mumtaz Mahal more than his life.Mumtaz died at an early age .Shah Jahan was very shocked at his wife's death.So he built the Taj Mahal as a token of love for his wife .It is the place where Mumtaz is sleeping for ever .The Taj has an area of about 1003 acres or 405 hectares.The Taj Mahal is the finest example of Mughal architecture.It combines the art of Persia,Turkey,and India .It took 21 years and thousands of artisans and craftsmen to complete the Taj Mahal.The taj is universally admired as one of the wonders of the world.
Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower was named after Gustave Eiffel .Eiffel built the tower.He was born in 1832.He graduated from the Central School of Engineering in Paris.Gustave proposed a 989 foot tower of iron as symbol of the exhibtition in the world's fair of Paris.Forty engineers and designers under Eiffel's direction worked for two years.The tower was completed in March 1899.It is 324 metres tall about the same height as an 81 storieyd building which was the tallest structure in the world.It is the most visited paid monument in the world and about 20 million people has visited the tower since its construction .The bank of the Seine including the Eiffel Tower received UNESCO World Heritage Status in 1991.

The Pyramid are colossal structures used by the ancient world for religious purposes and as tombs or memorials of the kings .The largest and most remarkable of the pyramids are situated on the west side of the Nile River in Egypt.They are built from hard limestone and large blocks of limestone,especially on the outside surface . The original height of the pyramid was 146.5 metres,but today it is only 137 metres high.They date from 3000 BC to 2300 BC .Great skill was needed to quarry these large blocks,transport them and then place them in position.The Ancient Egyptians were very well organised and they had good understanding of technology,science and mathematics to enable them to build what has become known as one of the wonders of the ancient world.
