In the process of introduction of quota system after the liberation war of Bangladesh, the expectation of job seekers and general students are holding protests. After the independence of Bangladesh, the first quota system was introduced in 1972 for the government job. At that time, 20 percent allotment of merit list was given, 40 percent were district-based, 30 percent for the family members of freedom fighters participating in the liberation war, and 10 percent of all the women affected by the war. This quota system was changed several times later.
According to the information published in Prothom Alo, the number of registered freedom fighters is two-two and a half lakhs. Job seekers are demanding 5 job claim quota system jobs. The demands are:
1. The current quota for government jobs ranges from 56 percent to 10 percent. [19]
2. Appointment from merit list to vacant post if eligible candidate is not available.
3. Set the age limit for everyone in government service.
4. Do not keep any special tests in quota.
5. Stop the opportunity to use quota facility multiple times in job recruitment examination.
