Manik Bandyopadhyay was born on May 19, 1908 in Dumka, Santal Pargana, Bihar.His ancestral home in Vikrampur of Dhaka.His fathers name Harihar Bandyopadhyay and His mothers name Nirada Sundori Debi.His real name is Prabodhakumar Bandyopadhyay.His nickname is manik.He studied at various schools and colleges in Bengal, Bihar, Orissa.
He was alive for only forty-eight years.While studying BSc in Presidency College, Calcutta, at the age of 20, he betrayed his friends with the first story,'Atoshi Mami'.Then he wrote about eighteen years of life forever.He has been involved in the job and business work for only three years, but he is in full-time the whole life he were engaged in literary services.Manik is well-known in Bangla literature as a novel and short story writer.
